Day 1

We start the day behind the Burke Mountain Hotel. After checking in & safety check our day

begins with a warmup ride. We spend the first half of our morning in a cone zone dialing in our skills to conquer the summit. We will work:

  • Proper body position/range of motion
  • Front and rear brake modulation
  • Riding the proper lines
  • Learning to manage terrain pressure with our suspension.

After dialing in the skills, we head up to Burke Bike Park where we ride Enchanted Forest and Black Forest. Continuing to develop the skills, we ride the off-camber root sections, focusing our vison on the now & next while allowing the bike to float up and down beneath us. On Black Forest will ride the dirt roller and pump through the doubles into an off camber root section that has a tendency to push riders into the back seat – great opportunity to practice body position and range of motion. As we continue building our progression we will end the morning on Dead Moose and Abuse. Dead Moose Abuse is 2 minutes of some of the best riding at Burke. As coach Whit says “if you can ride Abuse you can ride the summit!!” It starts with a rocky entrance into a rock shoot. After the rock shoot the trail is off camber to the right – the line is chunky and rocky right into a rock roller then a fun rooty downhill section!! We merge back onto Dead Moose riding the twisty singletrack back to Burke Hotel for Lunch catered by our favorite local chef!

After lunch we head up the lift to Enchanted Forest to burn off lunch legs. . Once at the bottom we board the shuttle and head to the Summit to ride Rude Awakening (one of the trails the Enduro Pro’s race). As you pedal over to the entrance the views are spectacular. After you pass Jitters Junction the trail starts to pitch down….as you pick up speed you come around a tree into a left hand corner; to the right is an off camber rock slab, to the left is gnarly rooty, rocky terrain both lines put you right into a small rock shoot. From there you’re off - riding rock rollers and shoots, slabs, off camber rooty/rocky corners, and drops (with a B line). On our first run we will take time to session the features and learn the lines building your skills and adrenaline. At the bottom we shuttle back up  to do it again, You have practiced the skills, you know the lines and you are ready! You rip down Rude Awakening cleaning all the features successfully. You have become a DH rider!! We then come down Camptown to Roly Grail to the chairlift. You are stoked and it’s only day one!! After this run you can continue riding Burke Mountain Bike Park or join your coaches in town for dinner.

Day 2

We shuttle to the top three times today!! We start our day behind the Burke Mountain Hotel. After a safety check we review all of your new found enduro skills. Our warmup ride is up Camptown to Dead Moose/Abuse. You know this trail, you know the lines. We are getting our minds and bodies ready for the summit by riding the rock shoot and rock roller on Abuse. After finishing our warmup coming down Dead Moose, we hop on the shuttle and head to the summit to ride Rude Awakening. Your coaches will be positioned in various spots cheering you on as you rip down. After popping out at the bottom of Rude Awakening we come across the CCC road to Lower J-Bar which is flowy and fast!!  We head down to the Sherburn Base Lodge where we have another fabulous lunch spread prepared by our local Chef.

After lunch we head up the lift to burn off lunch legs on Black Forest. Once we reach the bottom, we board our shuttle and head up to ride Upper J-Bar (another trail the Enduro Pro’s race). Your blood is pumping, you are excited, you are ready to take it to the next level – Upper J-Bar!! Upper J is a step up; it has a lot of armored trail (armored trail is when the trail builder uses rocks in the trail to create a line, kind of like using the rock to

put together a puzzle – the pieces fit), big banked corners, chunky rock gardens, slab rollers and rocky shoots. It’s only a mile long but you descend 1100 feet. You enter Upper-J on a open ski slope with stunning views of the mountains; as you roll into the woods it’s time to get serious. The trail starts to pitch down and the chunky rock gardens progressively get harder and harder. We will take time to session features, learning the lines and getting comfortable. We cross over to Lower J-Bay and end up at the Sherburne Base lodge where the shuttle is waiting. Back to the summit one final time. This is it! You’ve practiced. You know the lines. You are warmed up. YOU ARE AN ENDURO RIDER!!! You are ready to conquer Upper J-Bar. As you start to ride down the skills you have been practicing become automatic – you are naturally pumping the bike and absorbing it underneath you, you are modulating your brakes and allowing your wheels to roll, you are in a groove!! Your are putting it all

together….you have taken your riding to the next level. We stop at the bottom of Upper J-Bar to allow your adrenaline to come down and celebrate what you have accomplished. We take Lower J-Bar to the Connector Trail heading over the Kingdom Trails network where we ride Bottoms Up and Last Call ending up at Mike’s Tiki Bar for a beverage of your choice. After cheering to our success, we soft pedal over to Tomassoni's Bistro for a pizza party and to relive all the memories of the last day two days with your new riding buddies.   The Shuttle will take you back to the hotel after the festivities are over.

Optional Day 3 (no additional cost) – If you have the time stick around East Burke and ride with the Pro’s’ on Saturday Aug 10th . The DCA coaches will be around riding either Kingdom Trails or Victory Hills. We would love to guide you around some of the ‘local’ favorite routes followed up by a party at DCA Headquarters Saturday evening, where you can ride our private jump line!
